The project:
A very active group of youngsters came up with the idea of organising an international youth exchange in their community. These teenagers regularly dance together (hip-hop and modern dances) and would like to share this passion with other young people from Europe. They are very curious to get to know more about the life of other young Europeans in their countries.
Hip-hop is one common element of youth culture across national borders, connecting young
Europeans. It will be the starting point in a discovery for common interests, dreams and questions for youngsters from remote areas.
Within this week after Pentecost, the youngsters will develop a common dance performance which
will be shown on the last day. The exchange will consist of many dancing exercises and workshops but will also allocate time to focus on topics, such as Europe, diversity and stereotypes. The local host plans a lot of free time activities for the group around the community and within the region (swimming, hiking, sight seeing, concerts etc.). A concrete result will be a video which retraces the whole week and the preparation process of the actual performance.
As the accommodation will be in host families, the participants can discover German culture and life
more intensively.
