In this workcamp volunteers will support two sport activities.
Festival of Adventure will be organised in the town of Lozoya on the 1st -2nd June and will consist of an unique event that will take place for the second time in Spain. This event will combine
competition of Earth, Air and Water, trekking and extreme sports for all the audience, expositionfair, conferences and free music concerts. You can get more information in

Ecotrimad will take place in the town of Buitrago 8th and 9th of June. ECOTRIMAD is a long distance triathlon competition, which could be an example at national and international level regarding its ecological, athletic values and its social and touristic characteristics.For further information: www.ecotrimad.com
DeAmicitia, the hosting organisation, will also watch over environmental respect during these two events. Since these activities will take place in a nature area of Sierra Norte of Madrid, it will be fundamental to ensure the smallest impact on environment, and promoting Carbono 0 Project.
All the volunteers collaborating with this workcamp will provide direct help to the
sportsmen participating on the competition, but they will also be in charge of cleaning and
recycling tasks. DeAmicitia will also be present with an information stand, at disposition for more of 2000 visitors that will assist to this interesting event, spreading news and information about environmental protection, citizenships participation in these kinds of events.

Volunteers will participate in the previous and following days of both activities and they will be
asked also to do some small works for the local municipalities. We will also have the chance to do some sport activities, such as cannoing. They will also have 2 free days (the 4th and 5th June) in order to visit Madrid if they wish.

Accomodation: For the Festival of Adevnture in Lozoya volunteers will sleep in the Culture House
of the Town Hall and in the Ecotrimad of Buitrago they will sleep in tents. Therefore it is necessary
to bring sleeping bags and mattress
Location: Lozoya and Buitrago are two small towns located in the Sierra Norte which is a precious
area in the North of the province of Madrid and has around 26,000 inhabitants spread over
1,253kmІ. The river Lozoya flows through this area and is one of the main water sources and reservoirs supplies of water for Madrid. Therefore thearea is quite naturally preserved.
The area used to be a non very well off area in economical terms but people managed to survived through a traditional economy based on farming and the use of natural resources. Nowardays farming is becoming abadanated and tourism seems to be an alternative together with the commercial sector and an increasing number of people from the city of Madrid enjoying second houses in the area.
It is relevant to understand that events such as Ecotrimd or Festival de Aventura promote the social and economical life of this deprimed area.

Leisure time:
Gargantilla del Lozoya, the village where volunteers will be hosted is a rural area, with
many hiking tracks, a beautiful view and many farms to visit.
Volunteers will also be able to participate at some Multiaventura’s activities during the
festival: they will be able to choose any of the many sports proposed by Multiaventura.
Monte Holiday camping also organize live concert every weekend, Lozoya’s municipality will organize concert as well.

WORK: Germany is removing its atomic energy programs. However, the use of renewable energy leads to many problems: biogas plants support monoculture and a lack of biodiversity, wind parks are located in areas with endangered species, manmade lakes threaten entire ecosystems, and the poorest countries in the world are being exploited more than ever. How could the alternatives to our energy hungry industrial society look like? Is there a such thing as a utopia for a society whose resources are divided up fairly and sustainably? What is your opinion? What can you change? In this camp, your team will undertake various gardening and carpentry work to help maintain the educational facility and its grounds. Through the project and in your everyday life here, you will do your part to help sustain our natural resources and practice environmental protection in small steps. We invite you to try out a sustainable lifestyle. Together, we will try living without industrial modern comforts, from eating vegetarian to a life without internet, cell phones, clocks, etc. The lovely grounds of the educational center “Bahnhof Goehrde” have beekeeping facilities and is an ecological education facility.

BACKGROUND:Since many years, the Social Centre “Magazzino 47” has been organizing a summer festival in Brescia. The Festival aims to finance RADIO ONDA D’URTO, an independent, alternative radio which was established during the 70’s, and since then provides social, political and cultural information out of the mainstream media. The aim of the workcamp is to support an independent voice and, through it, the freedom of speech.

WORK:Volunteers will help to put on and manage several food stands of the Festival and will clean the kitchen and other spaces. Volunteers will work for around 6/7 hours a day and will work in pairs or small groups at different times of the day depending on the work requirements. They will work in the afternoon till late in the evening and will have the opportunity to join the concerts, theatre performances, movies and DJ-sets.

ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be hosted in a local social centre, called “Magazzino 47”, a self-managed place for youth where social, cultural, and political activities are organized. Sleeping bags, good-will and open-mindedness are required.

LOCATION: Brescia is in Lombardy, in the north of Italy.

TERMINAL: Brescia is the nearest train station, Milan is the nearest airport. (Please consider Milano-Orio al Serio Airport where several low cost flights options are available.)
Special requirements: Motivation letter is required. Volunteers must be motivated to work hard to make the festival a success, be enthusiastic and open mind.

PROJECT DETAILS: From the 8 species of sea turtles on Earth, 7 of them arrive to Mexican coasts. Several factors make the turtles are in danger of extinction, then, we have a very strong commitment with the turtles’ protection as well as other ecosystems.

WORK: Doing conservation tasks, collecting the turtle eggs, sedding them in artificial nests; making census and taking samples of the nests, picking up and carrying nests; patrolling the beach during the night in order to protect the turtles that arrive to deposit their eggs, doing data registration and liberation of newborn baby turtles. 2-3 days of the week (some hours during the day) the team will go to work close to Zihuatanejo in order to help to clean nests, liberation of more baby turtles, to continue doing census of the turtles, etc. Volunteers will go to nearby schools and do some presentations of their countries and the environmental situations they deal with at home.

LOCATION: At José Azueta Municipality of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero State.

ACCOMODATION: In a house with all the services.

FOOD: Meals will be prepared by the volunteers.

LANGUAGE:English is the official language. Some knowledge of Spanish will provide a richer experience but is not necessary. People from the region are very friendly.

REQUIREMENTS: Good disposal to the team work, dedication, be responsibly, a good health condition and a lot of enthusiasm. Please bring your own insurance and sleeping bag or hammock.

REMARK: You can take the Intensive Spanish Course that we offer to the volunteers in our camps before to go to it. See the information and conditions at the section of the Spanish Courses 2013. The meeting point will be at the VIMEX office before the camp starts because all the volunteers will go together to the project.

Work: We want to build a glasshouse with you! Its size will be 40 m²; we will use mostly 2nd hand material. It's supposed to stand in east-west-direction, the south-side will consist of glass (old balcony doors etc.), in the middle there will be a massive, warmth-keeping wall with a foundation of concrete (taken from buildings that have been pulled down, and we’ll work with clay and old bricks). The north-side of the building (made of wood, the roof with old bricks too) will give room to a shed for gardening tools.
Assuming that not all the participants can work together at one time at the glasshouse, so the group will be split into two smaller groups.

Other possible tasks are:
1. to mow with the scythe between trees in a forest that we planted four years ago. Don't worry, we will teach you how to do it!
2. We do some forestry work in one of our older forests
In case of bad weather there are other jobs that can be done inside, like preparing wooden parts of the glasshouse or building nest-boxes for birds, bats and owls, repairing tools, etc.

Location: Zarnekla is a very small village (about 60 inhabitants) in the federal district Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, near the Baltic Sea about 200 kilometres north of Berlin. The next little town is Loitz, about 10 km from Zarnekla, the next bigger town is Greifswald, a students' town, which is situated at a bay of the Baltic Sea, about 30 kilometres from the camp.

Remarks: This is a VEGETARIAN CAMP. The organisation at Zarnekla has a drug-free policy on their land, including tobacco and alcohol.

The project : You would like to participate to the reconstruction of a medieval castle of a small French village ? The castle of Montaigu-le-Blin needs you to find back the grandness of its past ! Since summer 2002, workcamps have taken place every year and begun to protect the castle – which has been listed as a Historical Monument. Thanks to your involvement, we can stop the damages caused by bad weather and vegetation and renovate the castle. The castle may be open to the public and guided tours and varied animations would be proposed to the tourists.

Works: Unlike Forrest Gump, who said that ‘Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.’, the works on the castle are well planned ! You will restore stairs and walls (clearing, replacing of stones, repointing). And you will not forget to clean up the bund in the low yard.
Works for U18-C Montaigu 3 : For the third session, in August, you will restore the great room (clearing the walls) and secure the staircase by installing a handrail. You will also restore a vault by repointing the stones.

Activities : On your arrival, leaders will propose several activities; your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don’t expect you to do activities on your own, you will live an experience in a group !

Location : Montaigu-le-Blin is a lovely village of the Bourbonnais, in the region of Auvergne. It is located 90km from Clermont-Ferrand. There are numerous possible walks and hikes to discover this beautiful environment.

Accommodation : You will sleep in tents. 2 showers are a five-minute walk from the camp.
Special Requirements : A part of the work will be at heights, on scaffolding. So, we ask you a parental authorization and a medical certificate.
-If you have safety shoes, take them with you. Otherwise, make sure you bring sturdy and close footwear to protect your feet while working!

Project: This year will be the fourth year when youth organization “Kyiv Scouts” organizes the children camp “Forest village Scoutville”. The camp is situated on picturesque banks of Kaniv artificial sea in the pine forest. The nearest town – Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi and the camp is situated 120 km from Kyiv – capital of Ukraine. Camp is based in tents in pine forest. Pine forest on the bank of picturesque river of the river creates an unforgettable atmosphere of living in nature.

The program of camp is based on Scouts methods, which provide overall development of the children. Program includes developing games, hiking trips, different sport competitions, additional educational courses (in scouts sphere), excursion program in National open-air museum “Pereyaslav”. The team of foreign volunteers will work in close cooperation with pedagogical staff of the camp (teachers, psychologists, instructors of physical culture and sport, engineers).

Work: One of the main ideas of the camp is to teach through the practical work, making children's holiday active, entertaining, informative and helpful. The camp program is aimed not only at the organization of children’s rest, but also on education of children. Learning is very various, from the basics of safe behavior to the training of leadership and oratory. Every child and teenager can find in the Forest Academy something really good for himself.

Accommodation/Food: in triple double-layer tents that protect from rain and insects. All tents are placed on pallets to raise them above the ground, so children are protected from moisture and dirt.
Camp is ensured with uninterrupted water and power supply. Water from the source of Jurassic period is tested and certified according to the requirements of sanitary-epidemiological service.
Special hygienic zones are equipped with showers and toilets. Food is prepared by campers (with the help of instructors and cooks) on open fire 4 times per day. We offer children to participate in cooking food to get so useful practical skills and making their own culinary experiments.

Leisure time: Ukraine is a wonderful place to visit during the summer. There are 17 museums and 7 magnificent parks in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, so volunteers will enjoy this place. Well-known in Ukraine - Open-air Museum of Folk Architecture is situated in Pereyaslav. Here you can see, among other things, authentic peasant huts of the times of old, smithies and several windmills of the eighteenth century. In fact, a village of the 17th–19th centuries is recreated. On the territory of the open-air museum, you can find other museums, one of which exhibits stone idols of the Scythian times of centuries before Christ.

PROJECT: All the activities of the volunteers will be organized by WWF Provincia di Crotone . The main pourposes of this association are environment and legal control. This camp is important from another point of view since the volunteers will sleep in a hostel (formerly it was a market confiscated to local mafia ). The WWF turned an old building closed since 1997 in to an hostel called C.E.L.A. without any economic help. The province of Crotone is the poorest of Italy and unfortunately it is economically controlled by mafia , consequently we decided to work together with other associations in order to create a mafia-free economy and to improve the economic level of the community. WWF will host international volunteers to provide an intercultural experience and to support the activities in favour of the environment and to improve the hostel premises.

LOCATION: The province of Crotone is located on the Ionian coast of Calabria in the south of Italy . This small territory unifies the largest European Reserve Marine that of Caporizzuto and the National Park of Sila mountain. The origins of Crotone dated back to the VII century B.C. when the Greeks started colonizing the south of Italy ( Magna Grecia) . Crotone became a cultural centre thank to Pitagora who built the Pitagoric School . In Midle age The Aragonise built along the coast a series of towers and Fortress in order to protect the territory from the pirates invasions.

WORK: At Isola Caporizzuto: Installation and maintenance of stances. Works of maintenance and restoration of dry stone walls and containment; Gardening (pruning, cleaning flower beds, removal of stones and plant pest, earth moving, etc.); At CELA(hostel): Painting , gardening, The volunteers, helped by the members of WWF, will build a pick-nick area with tables and benches .Other small manual works could be required with update to the applicants

ACCOMMODATION: The CELA is an hostel made up of three rooms with 4 bank beds and a bath room in each room. It is located in San Leonardo di Cutro between the two the tourist residences of Serenè and Porto Kaleo. It is only two hundreds metres far from the sea and there are two large gardens around the hostel.Food :The volunteers together with a member of wwf will organize the meals . Any personal menù will be discussed with the members of the association.
